Welcome, I am so glad you are here.

My name is Bushra. I am a CBT therapist with over ten years of experience supporting people through anxiety, trauma, OCD, low self esteem and emotional overwhelm. I work with children teenagers and adults. My journey into therapy began through my work as a parenting facilitator, where I supported families in building stronger, more connected relationships. This deeply rewarding experience sparked my passion for emotional wellbeing and led me to pursue further training in psychotherapy. After completing my degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy- I went on to work as a counsellor in the private sector for several years, offering support to individuals facing a wide range of challenges. I later completed my Post Grad training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which now forms a core part of my integrative approach. I’m passionate about helping people feel understood, empowered, and supported as they move towards meaningful change. I do this work because I believe in the power of being seen and understood, because I know how heavy life can feel when you are carrying it all alone. And because I have seen the strength that can grow when you are met with care and curiosity instead of judgement. Whatever brings you here today. You are welcome.

Areas of Focus

OCD

OCD is often misunderstood - It is not just about cleanliness or order. It can involve intense intrusive thoughts and repetitive mental or physical rituals that feel impossible to stop. Whether it is fears around harm, contamination, religion, relationships or taboo thoughts- OCD can be incredibly distressing exhausting and isolating. With a special interest in OCD I offer therapy grounded in evidence based practice. I use Exposure and Response Prevention also known as ERP.  I understand how hidden and shameful some OCD themes can feel and I provide a safe, non judgemental space to work through them at your pace. OCD is treatable. Together we will gently reduce the grip it has on your life and help you move toward freedom confidence and peace of mind.

Social Anxiety

Social anxiety is more than just shyness - It is a deep fear of being judged rejected or criticised that can make everyday situations feel overwhelming. You might worry about saying the wrong thing or feel like you are being watched even when nothing is happening, it can leave you feeling exposed on edge and desperate to avoid situations that trigger those feelings. Underneath social anxiety is often a fear of not being good enough - A fear of being seen and not accepted,  it can affect your confidence your relationships and your ability to fully engage in life. In therapy we explore where this anxiety comes from and how it shows up in your life. We look at the beliefs that might be keeping it going and gently challenge them in ways that feel safe and manageable. You will learn tools to help you feel more grounded and build real confidence from the inside out. Social anxiety is not who you are, It is something you are experiencing- and it can change.

Self-esteem

Low self esteem can quietly shape the way you see yourself and how you move through the world. It can sound like an inner voice that is always questioning you always criticising always making you feel like you are falling short. Even when others see your strengths you may find it hard to believe them. These beliefs often come from early experiences, being compared, being criticised and feeling like you had to earn love or prove your worth. Over time those messages can become part of how you speak to yourself and how you show up in relationships, work and daily life. In therapy we gently explore where these beliefs came from and how they are affecting you now. Together we work on building a more compassionate and realistic view of yourself. This is not about pretending to feel confident, It is about reconnecting with your sense of worth in a steady honest way. You do not need to be anyone other than who you are - you are already enough, therapy can help you start to believe that.

What You Can Achieve

Beyond Coping: Thriving

My approach goes beyond merely managing symptoms. We work together to equip you with tools for lasting change, fostering emotional resilience and a profound sense of well-being.

My Approach to Your Well-being

Initial Assessment and Goal Setting

In our work together your needs come first. I will not push or rush you. I will not tell you how you should feel. Instead I will offer gentle guidance, space to explore and tools when you are ready. At the beginning we will take time to understand what is bringing you here. This is not a test, it is a chance to get to know you, to hear your story. And to begin making sense of how things are affecting you right now. We will talk about what feels most important to you,  what you would like to change and what you hope for. And also what you are unsure about. It is okay not to have all the answers, we will figure things out together. From there we can gently set some goals, these are not boxes to tick, they are more like guiding lights, helping us both stay focused on what matters to you. The pace is yours. The direction is yours. My role is to support you with care thoughtfulness and clarity as we move through that process together.

The Middle of Therapy – Where the Real Work Happens

After the first steps of assessment and setting goals together, the next stage is where we begin to work through what is getting in the way of where you want to be.  This part is not always fast It is not always clear cut, but it is often where the most meaningful shifts begin to happen. We might explore patterns that keep showing up, unpick beliefs that have been running quietly in the background. Understand the impact of past experiences or look at how your thoughts emotions and behaviours are working together. This is the part where we try things out, make sense of what is stuck and slowly begin to loosen the grip of what no longer serves you. Some weeks may feel active and focused, others may feel like holding space for something tender and there is no right way to do it - It is a process that meets you where you are. And all the while, we return to your goals We reflect on what is shifting And we stay connected to what matters most to you.

Measuring Progress and Coming to An Ending

Therapy is not about being fixed It is about movement, awareness, relief and shifts- even quiet ones. As we move through the process together, we will check in on how things are feeling. We will notice what has changed, what feels lighter, what still feels hard-and what is beginning to make more sense. Progress does not always look like big breakthroughs, sometimes it looks like fewer spirals-Like reaching out instead of shutting down. Like having a thought and letting it pass without doing something about it. Like speaking up. Resting without guilt Feeling a moment of calm and actually noticing it There may come a point where things feel more steady, where you feel more resourced within yourself, where the space we have created has done what it needed to do.  When that time comes, We can begin to think about ending, Not as a cut off, But as a closing chapter. One that honours the work you have done and the ground you have reclaimed We will look back together Notice what has shifted Celebrate what feels stronger And gently say goodbye in a way that feels thoughtful and respectful The door is never closed You are always welcome to return if life throws you something new But when we end It will be with care
